Is it legal to apply for a Florida Marriage license by mail? YES

I see on many Clerk of Court websites that we have to apply in person. Is the Marriage License by mail legal?

Yes! The Florida Marriage License by mail (in Absentia) is a legal document and the same as if you applied in person.  The filing process can only be done through a company like ours, or you would have to apply in person at the local Clerk of Court.

If you have questions, please contact us.

Why file for a Florida Marriage License by mail?

To get legally married in Florida, all couples will have to provide a valid Florida Marriage License to their officiant. There are two options on how two obtain one.  The first option is that you apply for your Florida marriage license in person. You can do that at any local Clerk of Court in the State of Florida. The second option is to apply for your Florida Marriage license by mail with a registered company like us. In both cases, you receive the same document. The license is valid in any city or county, as long as your wedding takes place in Florida.

What benefits do we have by applying for the Florida marriage license by mail?

The main benefit is that you will not have to personally appear in front of the Clerk of Court to apply for your Florida marriage license. Today’s busy couples may have difficulties getting time off work to apply for their license in person.  If one or both partners are not Florida residents, it may be time-consuming or impossible to go to the Clerk of the Court together. If you plan a destination wedding, the Florida marriage license by mail service is not only convenient but also time-saving. No arrival on a weekday before your wedding, no waiting times in government offices, no added stress or uncertainty.  Special circumstances like incarceration, poor health, or the latest COVID-19 situation are a few examples that also make it difficult to apply for your license in person. We are here to help and do the legwork for you.

How does it work, and what do I need?

Once you have filled out the application form and made your payment, we will either hold on to your application until it is time to file or immediately start processing your Florida marriage license. Everything will be done electronically and by mail.

What you will need:

  • You will have to provide us with your personal information on the Florida marriage license by mail application.
  • You need a working Email and the option to read and print out a PDF document.
  • Couples have to get their signatures notarized, and for that, you have to have a valid government-issued ID like a passport, driver’s license, military ID, etc.
  • After notarization, you must mail the original document back to us for the final filing stage.

The Florida marriage license will be dated and issued by the Clerk of Court, and we will send the finished marriage license to you.  The finished license is mailed to you with USPS or UPS Ground and will expire after 60 days.

Your officiant will fill out the part after the wedding took place and the Florida marriage license by mail will have to be mailed back to the Clerk of Court for recording. We will provide a return envelope for recording your marriage. You will receive one certified copy in the mail unless you have ordered additional copies.
