Is it legal to apply for a Florida Marriage license by mail? YES

I see on many Clerk of Court websites that we have to apply in person. Is it legal?

Yes! The Florida Marriage License by mail (in Absentia) is a legal document and the same as if you would apply in person.  The filing process can only be done through a company like us or you would have to apply in person at the local Clerk of Court.

If you have questions please contact us.

Why file for a Florida Marriage License by mail?

To get legally married in Florida all couples will have to provide a valid Marriage License to their officiant. There are two options on how two obtain one.  The first option is that you apply for your Florida marriage license in person. You can do that at any local Clerk of Court in the State of Florida. The second option is to apply for your Florida Marriage license by mail with a registered company like us. In both cases, you receive the same document. The license is valid in any city or county, as long as your wedding takes place in Florida.

What benefits do we have by applying by mail?

The main benefit is that you will not have to personally appear in front of the Clerk of Court to apply for your license. Today’s busy couples may have difficulties getting time off work to apply for their license in person.  If one or both partners are not Florida residents it may be time-consuming or impossible to go to the Clerk of Court together. If you plan a destination wedding, the Florida marriage license by mail service is not only convenient but also time-saving. No arrival a weekday before your wedding, no waiting times in Governmental offices, no added stress or uncertainty.  Special circumstances like incarceration, poor health, or the latest COVID 19  situation are a few examples that also make it difficult to apply for your license in person. We are here to help and do the leg work for you.

How does it work, and what do I need?

Once you have filled out the application form and made your payment we will either hold on to your application until it is time to file or immediately start processing your Florida marriage license. Everything will be done electronically and by mail.

What you will need:

  • You will have to provide us with your personal information on the application.
  • You need a working Email and the option to read and print out a pdf document.
  • Couples have to get their signatures notarized and for that, you have to have a valid Governmental ID like a passport, driver’s license military ID, etc.
  • After notarization, you must mail the original document back to us for the final filing stage.

The license will be dated and issued by the Clerk of Court and we will send the finished marriage license to you.  The Florida marriage license is ready to be used and will expire after 60 days.

We are Florida Notaries

If you are living in the area or surrounding counties we can also do the notarization of your signatures on the Florida marriage license and also marry you.  Ask us how.

What are the requirements to file?

It is very simple to file for a Florida marriage license by mail and involves only a notarization of your signatures. Requirements to file for a license are Statewide the same and you can find more detailed information here

How do I receive the marriage license?

We hand-delivered or mail your application to the Clerk of Court. Once your license is finalized we mail the document via Fed Ex to you. All certified copies after the wedding will either be mailed with USPS or Fed Ex depending on the selected package.

International Applicants for the Florida Marriage License by mail

Our Florida marriage license by mail service is available for International couples. We also offer a combo package if you need an Apostille to register your marriage in your home country.  Both offers will have additional shipping fees due to Fed Ex costs for International shipments.  Some countries will only accept the registration through their Embassy or Consulate.  Please contact your local authorities about what is required.  We have been filing marriages over the Consulate for couples from Switzerland and Italy as well as Apostilles for many countries like Germany, Austria, Netherlands, France, Spain,  Poland, Czech Republic, and more.
