Requirements to apply for theĀ  Florida marriage license by mail or in person.

Who can file for a marriage license?

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to apply for a Florida Marriage license by mail.
  • Applicants are required to provide a copy of acceptable government identification (driver’s license, passport, or military ID) if US-born, or a copy of the applicant’s foreign passport if foreign-born.
  • If either party has previously been married, they must provide the exact date the marriage ended.
  • U.S. residents and citizens have to provide their Social Security numbers; international couples must provide their passport numbers.

What else do I need to know for the “by mail” application?

All applicants are required to have a valid Email address to receive all documents and instructions. You will need a reader that can open Adobe Document files.
After receiving the license, applicants must have their signatures notarized on the pre-license and the premarital statement.

Payments must be received before we can start the filing process. All Florida Marriage licenses are prepaid with the Clerk of Court, and filing fees will not be refunded.

What are your terms, and how do I pay?

All application fees are NON-REFUNDABLE
We accept online payments with a credit card, Zelle, or US money orders only. For payments made via Zelle or Money Order, please get in touch with us.
No other documentation, translations, or birth certificates are required.
Exception: If one of the applicant’s marriages ended less than 30 days before the application or wedding date, the applicant must provide a copy of the finalized court document with the date when the last marriage ended.

What is an Apostille?

We offer the filing for an Apostille for International clients. Most countries outside of the US will require an Apostille to legalize the wedding at home. One exception is the United Kingdom, where the Florida Marriage Certificate is valid without an Apostille. Please check with your local authorities if an Apostille is required to legalize your wedding at home. Some marriages must be filed with the Embassy of the respective Country, and additional documentation will be required. One example is Switzerland. For countries where marriages are filed with the Embassy, additional costs will apply. It is the applicant’s responsibility to get information about the necessary steps to legalize the wedding at home.

Events and More Inc. is multilingual. We speak English, German, and offer Spanish-speaking assistance upon request. For questions, please email us.
