Sometimes it is just about love and not the time we have left.

If you need an emergency wedding in a hospital or a place where you are a patient or reside, we are here to help. We can even take care of flowers or other simple requests to make this day special. When we get asked to help with an emergency or hospital wedding, we understand how important this is to you and guide you through the filing process up to your ceremony.

What is an emergency wedding?

An emergency wedding is requested if terminal illness or other dire situations make it impossible to plan a traditional wedding. Your marriage may take place in a hospital, at home, in a hospice, or in a nursing home.

How fast is this possible?

An emergency wedding can be performed as soon as a marriage license has been issued and is valid. Sometimes this can be done in less than 24 hours on weekdays, if both partners are not Florida residents. A waiting period of three days will apply for Florida residents, but may be waived in very limited circumstances by petitioning a judge.

Key Considerations

Both parties will have to have the mental capacity to understand that they are entering a legal marriage. Both will have to be capable of signing the application to marry under the guidance of a Notary Public. All other requirements to legally marry in Florida will also apply.

How we can help – 24 hour and same day service

If you are bedbound, in a hospital or not able to apply for a marriage license in person we will assist you by filing it for you. We will provide you with an application form to be filled out. As soon as we receive the application, we will hand-deliver the application to the Clerk of Court and apply for the license. We will meet you both in the hospital or at the place you currently reside and get your signatures notarized on the marriage license. Please make sure you both have valid IDs like a driver’s license, passport or other govermental picture ID on hand.

After the notarization, we will deliver the document back to the Clerk’s office and get the license issued. If your notarization was done in the morning we will deliver the finished license the same day. You can get immediately married, or after the three-day waiting period, as explained above.

We can also marry you

Once your marriage license is effective, you can choose an officiant or pastor to come to you and perform the ceremony. You may also choose to get married on the same day by our Florida Notary Public, if a waiting period does not apply to you. You can choose a simple standard ceremony or Christian non-denominational ceremony wording. Don’t want any fuzz! A simple question from us, if you are willing to legally marry, is sufficient.

What happens next?

We will provide you with an addressed envelope where your officiant or pastor needs to send the document for recording, once the marriage has taken place. You will receive one certified copy of your marriage certificate in the mail. If you have chosen our in-house Notary Public to marry you, we will hand-deliver the document back to the clerk for recording and immediately receive a certified copy. We can either mail this copy to you or deliver it in person.
